Valderrobres is our second base, and where our Aragon tours are run from. An hour's drive inland from the Costa Daurada in north-eastern Spain, in the province of Teruel in Aragon, and set in an unspoilt backdrop of breathtaking natural beauty, Valderrobres is one of the great undiscovered gems in the Spanish countryside.
Valderrobres is the capital town of the Matarraña district, a little known region of Aragon, with a lush, verdant landscape of ancient olive and almond groves, immaculate vineyards, refreshing mountain streams with crystal clear waters and natural swimming pools.
Rich in culture and architechture, Valderrobres has been recognised by UNESCO, and it's also classified as one of the most beautiful towns in Spain, according to the Spanish Government.
The immaculately conserved "pueblo viejo" - the old part of town, is a picture-postcard town, and has many traditional Spanish mountain restaurants, tapas bars and cafes, perfect to unwind in, after a day out on the bikes.
The weather in Valderrobres
Valderrobres has a temperate, semi-mountainous climate - warm in the summer, but because of the altitude of 500 metres above sea level and the lower humidity, the climate is far more bearable. Cold winter mornings with pure blue cloudless skies normally means that by mid-morning, it's perfect riding weather.
