Trans-Catalonia

Our Trans-Catalonia tour links our base in Andorra with our main operating area, Terra Alta in Spain. Similar in format to our Spanish Pyrenees tour, the Trans-Catalonia tour is an A to B style tour, where we move on to a different destination each day.

Although not as technically difficult as our Spanish Pyrenees tour, this tour, which is not suitable for inexperienced riders, really has something for everybody. Trans-Catalonia can be run in either direction, and can be combined with our Terra Alta tours either before, after, or in the middle if running the Trans-Cat from Andorra to Terra Alta, then back to Andorra again.

The tour heads south out of Andorra, through the spectacular Spanish Pyrenees, down through the foothills, then finally the lower plains towards the coast. The trails over this route include everything from forest trails, steep rocky slopes, river crossings, to faster smoother sections through farming and vineyard country with the ultimate destination being L'Ampolla, the attractive Mediterranean village where we base our Terra Alta tours.

Our Nissan Patrol 4x4 jeep will transport your luggage to the next hotel every day, as well as providing a back-up service. We carry a fully-stocked spares and tool kit, a trailer with a spare bike, space for more bikes, and of course, comfy seats in the jeep for those who have had too much on the bikes....

Trans-Catalonia tours run from late April until early November. The route is approximately 400km, covered in 2 days. As with our other tours, we include 4-star hotel accommodation (half board including breakfast and dinner), bikes, guide, gear, fuel, lunches on biking days and 3rd party road insurance. Flights from various European airports to Spain, and connections to / from Andorra / L'Ampolla are optional.

Trans-Catalonia tours to Terra Alta are not suitable for complete novice off-road riders. The tours are more of a challenge, primarily because of the greater distances covered. Riders with some experience on off-road motorbikes, or who have done a few days on one of our other tours would considered this a challenge, and most definitely possible.
